Seneca Strong, a team that competed in the Pineapple 5K, a Hawaiian themed race sponsored by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, has raised more than $6,700 since beginning fundraising earlier this year.
They’ve received donations from a number of sources, but wanted to highlight the $218 donation made by the Community Club at Seneca Middle School. They sold voting tickets for students and faculty to vote for any team member of Seneca Strong to have to dress Hawaiian the Friday before the race weekend. Chris Oakes and Jennifer Staehle were the winners.
During the 5K, participants won’t know the obstacles until they literally run in to them on race day. There are other event surprises along the way to keep them on their toes! The reason behind all this mayhem is to help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society advance lifesaving cancer research and patient services.
