Sachem East girls basketball is known for its February success and their playoff run begins Thursday in the first round of the Suffolk County Class AA playoffs.
Second-seeded Sachem East (14-1 overall) will host No. 18 Brentwood at 5:45 p.m. The winner will play in the county quarterfinals against the winner of No. 7 Riverhead vs. No. 10 Hills East.
North Babylon (17-1) earned the top seed in this year’s bracket. The county championship will be played at Ward Melville High School on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
Sachem East finished atop Legue I during the regular season with a 12-1 conference record.
