It is truly with great sadness that I ask each of you to remember in your thoughts and prayers the members of the Sandy Hook Elementary School Family. As parents and educators we know there is no greater tragedy to a school community. We have contacted the good people of their district to offer the prayers and support of the Sachem Family.
Please know that Sachem continues to hold the safety of our students and staff members as our highest priority and we will continue to seek advice on means to enhance our current procedures.
I have been asked by several families and the Suffolk County Police Department to share with you that there have been several burglaries and thefts from homes and cars throughout our community. Please communicate with your neighbors, so that together you can protect and monitor your neighborhood.
To the parents and students who may be experiencing challenges with our new Pierson math curriculum, please know that we have scheduled many sessions to offer assistance. Each of our elementary schools and middle schools have the dates, times, location and information you will need to take advantage of this opportunity. The first session will be held this Tuesday evening, Dec. 18 at all four of our middle schools at 7 p.m. Parents and students are encouraged to attend.
We are looking to expand the list of worksites for our children with special needs to gain practical work experiences, which will provide them with the skills and opportunities for employment after their days at Sachem. If anyone knows of any places of employment that would help us in supporting our students please contact our Office of Student Services.
Finally, on behalf of the entire Sachem Family, I wish you and your family the peace and love of this special time of year. Whether you celebrate Chanukah, Christmas, Kwanza, other traditions and holidays, or simply share time with family and friends, may you enjoy good health and happiness now and always.
