Chris Kelly led Sachem North to a Week 5 victory over Central Islip thanks to his four touchdown performance. Sachem won 35-24.
The game was played as part of the Great American Rivalry Series (GARS), sponsored by the U.S. Marines.
“It was a great bounce back win because we were down the last three weeks,” said Kelly, “but we got the job done this week.”
Sachem is 6-2 all-time in GARS events. The program used the evening as its annual “Salute to Service” game and honored active and retired military personnel at half-time.
Kelly ran for two touchdowns and rushed for two touchdowns. He was 6-for-10 passing for 100 yards and had 12 carries for 78 yards.
Tyler Davide, who was honored pre-game with a scholar athlete award from the U.S. Marines, had 3 receptions for 39 yards and 1 touchdown. Shane Borsari caught the other touchdown pass and had 2 catches for 54 yards.
Tyler Hall carried 16 times for 94 yards and had 1 reception for 7 yards.
Nick Giorgi led all defensive players with 12 tackles.
The Flaming Arrows are 2-3 and travel to William Floyd next Saturday.
