That’s one. Tom Pandolf and his Sachem East football team earned a win in week two, his first as the new varsity head coach. Sachem East beat Pat-Med, 23-15, on Friday night.
Pandolf, who graduated from Sachem in 2004 and played at the University of Albany, ranks fourth all-time in Sachem history with 198 tackles. His 82 unassisted tackles as a junior in 2002 are also a program record.
As a senior in 2003, he was Team MVP, Defensive MVP, the Black Helmet Award winner and a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete. He was also All-League, All-County, All-Long Island and played in the Empire Challenge / Boomer Esiason all-star game.
At Albany he had 156 career tackles and was a First Team All-Northeast Conference player.
Pandolf is the latest alumnus from the Fred Fusaro coaching tree to run a varsity football program on Long Island.
