Sachem alum Jaclyn Pandolf has been named as a new assistant coach for the women’s lacrosse program at LIU Brooklyn, according to a release issued by the school.
Pandolf, who recently finished up her career as a goalie at Hofstra University last year, will coach under Allison Nuzzi, who she played for with the Pride.
“Jackie Pandolf is a tremendous competitor,” Nuzzi said in a statement. “In my time as a coach, I have not known anyone else who has put in as much extra time to bettering herself as a player. She will bring a wealth of knowledge to this Blackbirds squad. I look forward to watching her grow as a coach and use her experience to help this team win.”
Last year, Pandolf was honored with Hofstra’s Outstanding Senior Award to culminate her four-year career. Pandolf was ranked in the top 10 in the NCAA in Save Percentage and Saves Per Game twice in her collegiate career.
Also at Hofstra, Pandolf was a two-time selection to the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) All-Tournament Team, and was an honorable mention preseason All-CAA selection in 2012 and during her sophomore season.
According to Hofstra, Pandolf’s 387 career saves ranks fifth all-time in school history, and her 136 career ground balls are fourth all-time. Pandolf recorded 55 ground balls in 2012, tied for the fifth-most in a single season in program history.
At a lower level, Pandolf has coached the Long Island Top Guns Premiere Lacrosse Club since 2009.
She comes from a very Sachem-centric family. Amongst the former Pandolf athletes and students to attend Sachem are her older brother Tom, an assistant football coach at Sachem North, and her younger sister Jessica, who currently plays lacrosse at Lockhaven.
