Sachem North Sophomore is Nationally Ranked Skier

High school sophomore has promising future as professional skier
Most nationally recognized skiers live in high altitude areas out west or up north so they can take advantage of the cold, snow and optimal conditions. Not Jamie Loyst.

The sophomore is happy attending Sachem North, living in Lake Grove and competing on the weekends on a schedule that works for her. She also maintains an “A” average in the classroom.

“What can be said about an athlete who qualified for the U.S. National Championships when she was too young to partake,” said Tim Massucco, her coach. “Jamie has excelled as a SWSC Freestyle mogul skiing athlete for the past four years.”

She ranked in the top five in the Eastern Freestyle Championships last year and is a two-time junior national’s competitor.

“With some new aerial maneuvers in Jamie’s arsenal for the coming season, she is incredibly optimistic about the upcoming season,” said Massucco.

Jamie was recently featured in a Vermont newspaper as the 2018 season kicks off.
