The school paper is back at Sachem High School North.
After students showed an interest in reviving the paper, the school has made a return for the 2017-18 school year. Known as the Northwind, this year the paper is digital for the first time and accessible at SachemNorthwind.com.
“Please add us to your daily browsing, as there are always new stories being posted,” said advisor Amanda Foran. “You will find club news, calendars, department news, creative writing, and school events being reported.”
The new site is hosted by SNOsites.com, which is a school newspaper web host. Each staff member of the Northwind has their own username and password. After they write an article they “submit for review.” The club adviser is then notified that the article is ready for review and posting.
“Our staff has been hard at work providing the most up-to-date school news,” said Foran.
The Northwind is always welcoming new members. All students and staff are welcome to write for the Northwind and can forward any articles to Foran at aforan@sachem.edu.
Sachem East is in the process of reestablishing its paper, the Eastside View.
Prior to the district’s reconfiguration in 2004, the school paper in Sachem was known as the Harbinger for more than 40 years.
