Players from the Sachem East varsity girls’ soccer team volunteered with the League of Yes at Bald Hill this month.
The players helped children with disabilities play baseball by assisting in base running, catching and throwing.
“They displayed compassion and had a great day with these children and each other. It was an amazing experience for everyone involved,” said Sachem teacher and coach, Tom Anson. “We are all really proud of all of them as it is not easy, the disabilities varied from one extreme to the another.”
Sachem clubs and teams continuously provide community service and show volunteerism with various organizations across Long Island.
The district’s student-athletes show a fine balance of excellence both inside and outside the classroom and use their positions as student leaders to do good in the community.
