At 3-3, Sachem East has a big game on its hands Friday night at home against Bay Shore. Don’t let the Marauders’ 2-4 record fool you, they still have one of the best passing offenses on Long Island.
Bay Shore is coming off a victory over Ward Melville (4-2) last week and have had some high scoring games, including a 63-62 overtime loss against Sachem North that opened the eyes of many defensive coordinators in Suffolk’s Division I.
Sachem East had one of its worst losses in program history last week in a 47-6 shellacking to Connetquot. Steven Casali only played one quarter thanks to a concussion, but was on his way to a big game with more than 75 rushing yards in roughly 12 minutes of play.
The word is that Casali may not play this weekend against Bay Shore, meaning the bulk of offensive work will come from quarterback Danny Wolff and receiver Brian Balsamo. Bay Shore brings the tandem of quarterback Ryan Mazzie and receiver Joel Nunez to counter.
A word to Sachem East’s defensive backs … get ready to protect the pass.
Game time is set for 7 p.m. at Sachem High School East.
