Sachem Football Week 6: Inside the Arrows

A weekly look into the history and stats of both Sachem East and Sachem North’s football performance.

William Floyd 36, Sachem North 3

  • The loss marks the first time since Weeks 4 and 5 in 2008 that Sachem has lost back-to-back regular season games.
  • It’s also the first time Sachem has failed to score a touchdown in a game since 2006 (Week 5 against Longwood, 13-3 final).
  • Sachem has allowed 30-plus points in back-to-back games only two other times in 51 seasons (2007 and 1974).
  • Sachem is 12-18 all-time against William Floyd. The Flaming Arrows have played their rivals from the east more times than any other opponent since 2009 (2-5 in seven meetings).
  • The 18 losses to William Floyd tie the record for most losses against any opponent Sachem has ever had. They’ve also lost 18 times to Pat-Med. In comparison, however, Sachem has played the Raiders 53 times since 1962, more than any other team in program history.
  • On the brink of 1,000 (career): Earlier this season, Trent Crossan broke the 1,000-yard rushing mark for his career and both Malik Pierre and Tyler Andreassi are both very close. Pierre has 842 yards and Andreassi has 879.

Connetquot 47, Sachem East 6

  • Sachem East is now 0-3 all-time against Connetquot.
  • This was the largest margin of defeat against the Thunderbirds compared to the two previous meetings.
  • This was the eighth time in program history that Sachem East has allowed 40-plus points in a game.
  • Sachem East has lost at least three games in each of its first nine seasons.
  • Mark Wojciechowski is still one win short of tying Al Bertalone with 10 coaching wins, the most in program history.
  • On the brink of 1,000 (season): Steven Casali put up 82 yards in Sachem East’s loss against Connetquot. He now has 965 rushing yards, just short of breaking the 1,000-yard mark for the second straight year.
