Every year the March Madness basketball event at Sachem East is hosted in honor of a different charity or organization. This year the school chose to donate to NubAbility, an organization close to alumnus, Eddie Delaney, who is a member of the board of directors for the organization.
They run a summer sports camp each year for “limb-different” young people. Sachem East raised $1,000 to donate to send kids to that camp on scholarship.
March Madness spans the entire month of March and includes a three-on-three basketball tournament, a student-faculty game, and dunk contest.
“Since I have kept in touch with Eddie and I know he is passionate about his organization we chose them this year,” said Matt Rivera, advisor for Sachem East’s student government.
