Had Northport not beaten Bay Shore, 42-24, last week, Saturday’s game against Sachem North would have been viewed differently. Instead of a 1-3 team, they’re 2-2 and in the thick of the playoff picture, which starts shaping up around Week 6.
Historically, Kip Lukralle and his coaching staff have put together countless winning efforts based on pure strategy and tactics and limited skill players. This is the reason Sachem will have to be prepared for for the passing attack from Sean Gilroy, along with receivers Ken Radigan and Lucas Savocchi. John Trainor is Northport’s main rushing threat, amassing 183 yards against Bay Shore in Week 4.
As for Sachem (4-0), you know the drill. They run a triple option with more than three threats out of the backfield. They have now opened the passing game with Mike O’Donnell in at quarterback for the injured Trent Crossan, who is week-to-week as he rehabs his hamstring and knee. Anthony Ross is still out with a foot injury.
We saw huge efforts from Malik Pierre and Kevin Bragaglia last week against Sachem East. Count on that again, plus another big two-way effort from Tyler Andreassi.
Saturday’s game will be played at Northport with game time set for 3 p.m.
