The Miracle League/League of YES will be holding their third annual golf outing on Thursday, May 21st at The Vineyards Golf Club in Riverhead, New York. The event is being held to raise money so the league may continue to provide players with special needs the opportunity to play baseball.
The owners of The Vineyards Golf Club have graciously donated the course for the event knowing that everyone deserves the chance to play baseball. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. followed by breakfast and a putting contest. At 10:30 the event gets going with a shot gun start. Currently, 120 golfers are set to attend, including four actors from the HBO television series the Sopranos. The game will end late in the day but the festivities will continue.
A cocktail hour with hand rolled cigars will commence at 4:00 p.m. followed by dinner at 5:30. For a special treat, satellite radio personality Sal Governale, a Sachem alum, and his comedy group will entertain the crowd through dinner and the awards ceremony. At the end of the day, a large number of people will have had a great time and a great cause will benefit from their generosity.
Since 2010, the Miracle League of Long Island has been committed to providing all players with special needs the opportunity to play baseball. During the annual Gala fundraiser in February to support the baseball league, Executive Director Kristine Fitzpatrick announced the Miracle League of Long Island will be known as the League of YES. YES stands for where “You Experience Success” and they will be rolling out their new vision, logo, organizational structure and policies throughout 2015. What will remain the same is their dedication to providing a wonderful baseball experience for all the players, families and BUDDY’s involved. They will be known as the League of YES in association with Miracle League of Long Island throughout the transitional 2015 season.
