Sachem High School East will be hosting the “Empty Bowls” project to raise funds and awareness for Island Harvest (a food bank on Long Island) and The Long Island Women’s Empowerment Network (providing emergency housing and food) to help address the problem of hunger in the community.
Students at Sachem East have been busy organizing the event and creating pottery bowls as a symbolic representation that every day, somewhere, somebody has an “empty bowl.” We will host a soup supper event on April 29 from 6-8 p.m. to bring awareness to this cause and provide each guest with an empty bowl. Guest speakers from Island Harvest and Long Island Women’s Empowerment Network will present information about their organizations efforts.
Tickets for the event are $10 and include a soup supper (donated by Panera Bread) and one symbolic empty bowl. Raffles and Silent Auction items will be available.
Advanced purchase required – seating is limited.
