Not many college football teams around the country just got an injection of adrenaline to their depth charts like New Hampshire did. And by adrenaline, I mean Dalton Crossan.

Crossan, a graduate of Sachem North, was hampered by hamstring injuries all season and was unable to play in all but two regular season games for the Wildcats. Those appearances were mere cameos as he barely touched the ball.

But last week Crossan stepped onto the playoff scene with the vengeance of someone hungry to shine and help his team with fresh legs. He combined for more than 200 all-purpose yards rushing, receiving and on special teams. He’s back.

New Hampshire beat Fordham, 44-19, in the FCS playoffs. This week the top-seeded Wildcats host No. 8 Chattanooga in the FCS quarterfinals on Friday night. You can watch the game on ESPN2 starting at 8 p.m.

“This is a kid that averaged almost 9 yards a touch last year,” New Hampshire coach Sean McDonnell told the Foster’s Daily Democrat. “We didn’t have much of that the whole year. Knock on wood he stays healthy.”

There may not be a fresher weapon on any football team in the nation right now. Crossan is primed to do what he does best, make plays and give his team a good chance to win.

“Missing the season was tough,” he told the Foster’s Daily Democrat. “I got back as soon as I could. It’s good timing.”
