Dennis Buckstein pitched Sachem North to a no-hitter against Walt Whitman on Tuesday afternoon.
The Flaming Arrows won 2-0 to open its season on the efforts of Buckstein, who struckout 13 batters and did not allow any walks.
This is the first no-hitter at Sachem North in more than 15 years.
Buckstein, who threw a total of 81 pitches, was one base runner shy of throwing a perfect game. A batter reached base on an error in the fourth inning.
Sachem scored its only run off an RBI-single from sophomore Jake Sciarotta in the fourth inning.
Buckstein signed earlier in the school year to play college ball at Dowling.
Sachem North (1-0) will be in action again Thursday afternoon at Whitman.
