Two students from Sagamore Middle School recently participated in Sen. Phil Boyle’s Student Focus Group at Suffolk County Community College’s Brentwood campus. The senator’s inaugural topic focused around the common core curriculum.
Deniz Soysal and Nick Manzella joined Boyle and other students from around Suffolk County.
According to a release from the senator’s office, Boyle is looking to create a semi-regular dialogue with youth within his senate district on topics that directly impact them.
It is his hope that these conversations will empower students to advocate for themselves in an appropriate, logistical manner, the release said.
