For the third straight week, Sachem East has lost on the football field. Northport blanked the Arrows, 20-0, on Friday night in a Suffolk Division I game.
After a scoreless first quarter, Northport (2-1) scored twice and took a 14-0 lead into halftime. Colin Quinn connected on a 22-yard pass to Matt Nicolai at 8:34, and Brian Cannon ran in a 7-yard touchdown at 3:50.
The third quarter was played largely in side the 30 yard lines with little offensive traction on both sides.
Brett Hall later scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 1:14 left in the game to give the Tigers a three-score advantage over the Arrows (0-3)
This is the first time since Week 7 of last season that Sachem East has been shutout. It lost 40-0 to Bay Shore in the regular season in 2012. It’s also the 13th time in program history the team has been shutout.
Sachem East travels to Hills East next Friday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. for its next contest.
