Sachem Superintendent Patti Trombetta has been selected as an inaugural honoree at the Sachem Education Foundation Gala.
The Gala will occur on Thursday, March 27, at 6 p.m. at Flowerfield in St. James. Tickets and sponsorships are available now! All funds raised from the gala will support educational programming through foundation grants.
Trombetta is Sachem’s first alumnus to serve as superintendent. A graduate of the Class of 1986, she was a multi-sport athlete and starred in field hockey. She also played at the University of Michigan.
Her career in education began in Pennsylvania at the West Chester School District, where she taught from 1992-1999. She returned to Long Island to teach at Oldfield Middle School in the Harborfields Central School District in 1999. She also coached varsity field hockey at Harborfields.
It was home to Sachem in 2006, and her journey as an administrator took her from Grundy Avenue Elementary to Sagamore Middle School and finally to Sachem High School North before serving as deputy superintendent and later being appointed superintendent in 2024.
Her daughters Katie and Cara both graduated from Sachem. Katie works in marketing for Viant, and Cara is a nurse at Tisch Hospital. Both live and work in Manhattan. She is married to Tom Combs, a former longtime athletic director and coach, and the executive director of Section XI, the governing body of high school sports in Suffolk County.
Former Sachem Superintendent James Nolan was also announced as an honoree, and more will be announced over the next week!
