Two local politicians – and Sachem alums – made announcements on social media this week about leadership roles they will assume in the new year in their respective branches of government.
New York State Assemblyman Doug Smith announced he would be the Assistant Whip at the Assembly Republican Conference.
Suffolk County Legislator Anthony Piccirillo said he was named Majority Whip of the Republican Caucus of the county legislature.
“This year, I am humbled to have received a promotion in leadership, serving as Assistant Whip in the Assembly Republican Conference,” Smith wrote on social media. “I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Assembly Republican Leader Will Barclay for his continued trust and support. Together, we will keep working to deliver results for the people of New York, making our state a better place to live, work, and raise a family.”
Piccirillo wrote, “It was a great honor to be named Majority WHIP of the Republican Caucus at our organization meeting on Thursday. I appreciate the faith and trust the conference has shown in me.”
