Sachem alum Joe Cruz, a redshirt sophomore lineman at Syracuse, helped the Orange win the DirecTV Holiday Bowl after beating Washington State, 52-35.
Cruz, who has appeared in 15 games in two seasons with the Orange, was the Zellner Award winner – the top lineman in Suffolk County – as a senior at Sachem.
He follows Sachem linemen Jumbo Elliott (Michigan) and Larry Iacono (Penn State) to win bowl games.
