Sachem alum and SUNY Maritime third baseman Freddy Forgione has been selected as the 2024 ABCA/Rawlings Region 3 Player of the Year by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA).
Forgione also earned a spot on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team for the second consecutive season.
Forgione, the Skyline Conference Player of the Year, hit a program-record 21 home runs this season. That total is currently tied for the second-most in Division III. Forgione also broke the single-season school records for RBIs (62) and runs scored (54), and he tied the single-game mark with three home runs at Lehman on April 24. In addition, he led the conference with 15 doubles and was one of four Skyline players with at least 60 hits.
This is Forgione’s second straight selection to the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region First Team after being a Second Team honoree in 2022.
