Sachem alum Stephen Turnbull signed a First Team contract with New York City Football Club (NYCFC) through 2023 with options for 2024 and 2025.
He is the first player to sign a First Team deal after playing for NYCFC’s developmental group. He saw game action and made his MLS debut against Chicago and New England shortly after inking the contract.
“I am excited to have signed with NYCFC,” Turnbull said in a team release. “They are a Club which have helped me grow as a professional on-and-off the field since the day I joined. I want to thank David Lee, Nick Cushing and the rest of the coaching staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to live out my dreams of playing professional soccer.
Turnbull, who played collegiately at Stony Brook, is the second Sachem alum to play for NYCFC after Joe Scally, who is in the Bundesliga with Borussia Monchengladbach.
