Freddy Forgione had a strong showing at this year’s Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League all-star game and was named MVP.
The Sachem North alum went 2-for-2 with a two-run home run, two runs scored and two RBI.
Forgione plays college ball at SUNY Maritime College. A rising junior, he had an outstanding sophomore season and was named Division III All-Region and All-Skyline Conference.
He started in all 35 games, led the team in average (.409), hits (47), RBI (32), led the conference with eight home runs and had a program record 15 doubles. His .748 slugging percentage also led the conference.
In 21 games this season of HCBL play, Forgione is hitting .276 for Southampton. He has 1 home run, ranks second in the league with 13 RBI and has 11 runs scored.
