In just two varsity lacrosse seasons, Mike Mollot became one of the greatest Sachem players in history.
He graduated with records in career points (209) and assists (115) and single-season points (113) and assists (70), and was a star at the University of Maryland.
The Terrapins recently featured a story about Mollot and the impact of his scholarship on their athletic website.
The story talks about his journey at Maryland and following graduation, including his five years as a professional lacrosse player.
“With respect to being on scholarship, candidly, I probably was a little ignorant to it until I graduated from college,” he said. “Then you realize you’re able to make life decisions about your future employment without the stress of having to pay back college loans … And, also being a student-athlete, it’s challenging managing your time between school and sports. So lifting the burden of having to also worry about how am I going to pay for these college loans was invaluable.”
