Barstool Fund Tabs Holbrook Bar as Latest Small Business to Support

There’s nothing more local than a neighborhood watering hole. Holbrook’s Backporch has been around for more than 50 years and owned by the same family for the last 14.

Located on Grundy Avenue, the bar known for its local dart and pool competitions, has struggled to remain open. But Barstool Sports, an appropriate name as a savior, has added Holbrooks Backporch to its list of businesses they’ll support through the Barstool Fund.

“We got your video, got your story, perfect candidate and we want to help out,” Portnoy said on a call with the owners, one of the owners. “There’s a lot of places like you guys. Local bar, you show the trophies, the dart leagues, all that stuff. You guys are in New York, one of the worst states with the shutdowns.”

Barstool Fund was started by Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy to help small businesses in need due to impacts of COVID. You can donate by clicking here, or if you’re a small business by clicking here.

The fund has raised more than $18 million thanks to donations from 147,000 people and supported 79 small businesses.
