This year may have started with the Earth shattering news of Matt DiStefano’s passing, but it’s ending on a positive note as the Dezy Strong Foundation has worked hard to keep his goodwill and vision alive.
DiStefano, affectionately known as Dezy, was a Sachem alum, teacher and coach who battled kidney cancer and started a foundation in the last year of his life.
Many of the foundation’s devoted friends and organizers, including Matt’s wife and kids, have been spreading cheer and joy for families across the region with “A VeryDezy Christmas 2020.”
Whether it’s Allie from Mempham High, who is undergoing treatments for Hodgkins Lymphoma, or Liam, who is getting a kidney transplant from his mom Michele, or many others battling their own fights, the Dezy Strong Foundation has made time to stop by their homes with gifts and positive messages.
“Let us all remind ourselves how special it is that #wegetto help others during this holiday season,” the foundation wrote on Instagram.
