Jeff Wallner packed his bags in June 2019 and moved to Beverly Hills.
A finance and sports business exec by nature, he put his deal making ability to the test and latched on to the entertainment industry. More than a year later the Sachem alum is on his second film as an executive producer.
“The Comeback Trail,” starring Robert DeNiro, Tommy Lee Jones and Morgan Freeman, will be released on November 13 and is being distributed by Cloudburst Entertainment, Wallner’s company.
The film is about two producers who owe the mob money and set up an insurance scam to pay their debt. They end up getting more than they hoped for.
“After a very challenging but successful and creative journey, I am thankful for the people who taught me the business, learning from studio executives, producers, actors, actresses was an amazing creative experience,” said Wallner, who spent nearly 20 years working on Wall Street. “Now I am developing, producing, and distributing films worldwide.”
He was on Sachem’s 1979 Suffolk County championship baseball team and played on scholarship at Louisburg College in North Carolina before garnering interest from the Dodgers, Reds and Red Sox. Though his pro career never took off, he parlayed his sporting interests to help professional athletes manage their money as part of his journey in finance.
His first executive producer credit came in 2019 on the film “Above Suspicion.”
