Latest chapter takes producer to rapidly growing sports and entertainment media network
Producer. Anchor. Emmy Award winner. Emergency backup goalie. Brendan Jones is a renaissance man.
The Sachem alum started as a producer at Barstool Sports this week. He’ll be working with the group who focuses on golf content.
On Tuesday he appeared briefly on Barstool’s wildly successful Fore Play Podcast where he was asked about his unique role as an Emergency Backup Goalie for the New York Islanders. During 10 home games, either at Nassau Coliseum or Barclays Center, Jones is ready if called upon by either team to serve as a net-minder. He played college hockey at Stony Brook University.
Jones, who has worked as an anchor at American Sports Network and News 12, has also worked recently as an associate producer at MLB and NHL networks.
Jones is the third Sachem alum to find employment at Barstool, which continues to grow as a multimedia powerhouse. Marty Mush, better known as Matt Cahill in the Sachem community, works on a number of projects as a personality and content creator relating to sports betting. Joe Bona is also a senior software engineer with the company.
On the podcast, his colleagues immediately jumped on the acronym “EBUG” (for Emergency BackUp Goalie if you haven’t done the math).
“Am I going to be referred to as EBUG?” Jones joked.
They riffed back about selling “EBUG” merch, so be on the lookout in the Barstool store one day. What a world.
