Sachem East football hosts first Dezy Strong Football Game
The night was not about wins or losses, but it would not have been wise for anyone to bet against Sachem East on Friday evening during the first Dezy Strong Football Game.
The Arrows beat Whitman, 32-13, in Week 3 Suffolk County football action, but the real story was the incredible outpouring of support for Sachem teacher, coach, and alum Matt DiStefano, who recently started the Dezy Strong Foundation after being diagnosed with kidney cancer.
Since then DiStefano and his foundation have gone to schools and sporting events across Long Island to spread the good word of positive thinking in relation to the adversity he and his family are facing.
DiStefano and his son Gio led Sachem East onto the field before the game and were honorary captains during the coin toss. He spoke to the team prior to the game and coaches from Sachem wore the new signature Dezy Strong shirts during the game as well.
