Fighter, believer and motivational speaker is spreading powerful messages
The Dezy Strong Foundation is in full effect now. It was not just a golf outing and inaugural awards dinner. That was only the start and the vision of founder Matt DiStefano is becoming more clear with every speech and presentation he makes.
“Another day ‘We Get To’ stay positive and make an impact on this world!,” he wrote on Facebook Wednesday after giving his second day of motivational speeches.
His talks on the power of positive thinking, using consistent behavior and pushing beyond your limits are a product of his recent and new battle with kidney cancer. Since the moment he was diagnosed he has used his experience to fight and spread positive messages in his community and beyond.
DiStefano, a Sachem teacher, coach and alumnus, has spoken with the football team at Sachem East, all student-athletes at Sachem North and all student-athletes at Hofstra University, and he is just getting started.
There will be Dezy Strong volleyball matches at Hofstra later this week featuring the Pride, Oregon and Duke, and the Sachem East football game on September 27 is also being played in support of the foundation. Plenty more is currently being scheduled.
“I just have to reach one kid …,” DiStefano said.
