Sachem North opens season with community pride and American spirit
The first cool fall night. The home and season opener for Sachem football. The Great American Rivalry Series sponsored by the U.S. Marines. Further tribute to our country with a Salute to Service. Week 1 was a sure fire and proud way to open a football season.
After an opening series that saw two sacks from Dylan Reilly and first quarter highlighted by an electric 70-yard touchdown reception by Cameron Lee off a pass from Sam Walker, Sachem came out swinging. Patchogue-Medford, however, rang victorious and used a strong second half to capture a 23-10 victory.
Justin Wank led Sachem with 22 carries and 107 yards. Lee finished with 6 receptions for 121 yards and Sam Walker was 8-of-15 for 130 yards passing.
Prior to the game Josh Walker was recognized as the Great American Rivalry Series scholar-athlete and was presented a certificate on field.
The Flaming Arrows (0-1) will host Bay Shore for homecoming on Saturday, September 21 at 1:30 p.m. at Fred Fusaro Alumni Stadium.
