Sachem youth laxers win first event, show future is very bright
They always say the consistent success of any varsity program is derived from the youth experience in a given community. If you need any inkling about Sachem lacrosse’s future, just look at the success on the field from the first ever Suffolk County PAL Championship held at Sachem High School North in late May. Sachem’s Fifth Grade team won the title.
To look even closer at the heart and grit of this team, let’s take little James Dee for instance.
He played with a broken left thumb that was in a cast because he didn’t want to let his friends down.
He wore a giant – black & gold, of course – hockey glove over his cast because all he wanted to do was compete with his SACHEM pals.
He’s a throwback kid and his team should be commended for upholding the true Sachem tradition and values of winning with respect, and always playing for the sacred name on the front of their jersey: Sachem! Nothing more, nothing less.
