We’re profiling Sachem staff members and telling their stories about how they impact others in the school community every day.
Jennifer Azzara usually has a bright smile on her face and that’s just the kind of reaction you want when you walk into a school.
With more than 2,000 kids in one school building, the hustle and bustle of signing students in and out is a tall task that Azzara handles with great care and passion.
Name: Jennifer Azzara
- Job / Area of Responsibility: Attendance
- Years of Service: 2 years
- Before Sachem: Pre-school teacher
- Main Role: Azzara signs in anyone who comes in late or who has to leave early, answers phone calls about absences, greets visitors, handles field trips and anything that deals with a student missing from school.
Why is Sachem special to you? “I just love seeing all of the students and family. The Sachem community is really special to me.”
What is the favorite part about your job? “Attendance for me, I think, plays a big role in a person’s success. I have always felt that way, even when I was in high school. It’s good to be on time. I think it’s kind of ironic to see where I am today, still having those same values.”

Editor’s Note: Pattigno is a senior at Sachem North contributing stories from his building, telling the story of his peers and the teachers and staff around him.
