Ready for next chapter of career, sets sights on public office
Louis Gregory, known to most as “Uncle Louie” was a founding member of the Department of Homeland Security after the 9/11 Terrorist attacks and rose to the rank of director with America’s largest federal law enforcement agency, U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
After many years of service to the nation, he has decided to concentrate on his community in Southern Florida, announcing his candidacy for Florida Congressional District 104 in the Florida House of Representatives. Gregory, who intends to run as a Republican, still needs to gather enough support on an initial petition, and raise campaign funds.
“I took a huge leap to chase my dreams,” said Gregory, who graduated from Sachem in 1996 and was inducted to the Sachem Hall of Honor in 2018. “I’m all in, win or lose, and I’m going for it.”
Gregory retired from his post with Customs and Border Protection to focus on a campaign and election run. He said he plans on running with a platform to improve schools, ensure the Florida ecosystem is protected for generations to come, job creation and support for local industries.
For many years he has balanced a successful career in government with a mainstream media career, recently co-starring on multiple episodes of ABC’s hit comedy “The Goldberg’s”. Gregory is a member of the Screen Actors Guild as well as the Fraternal Order of Police and has advised the leadership of some of the largest law enforcement agencies in America.
Florida’s District 104 is currently served by Democratic Representative Richard Stark.
“I hope to use my experience serving our country as a law enforcement representative as a building block for how I will help our great state of Florida,” said Gregory.
Stay tuned for updates about Gregory’s campaign in the coming months leading into 2020.
