Another honor on the way for recently deceased lacrosse coach
Ralph Pepe will never be forgotten. The Sachem alum and former district teacher and coach has been recognized in a number of ways since he passed away last year.
First it was the annual turkey bowl in his honor, then a football helmet sticker last fall, then induction to the Sachem Athletic Hall of Fame, and now the latest touch to his legacy will happen this spring. The lacrosse programs at Sachem East and Sachem North will debut the Ralph Pepe Sachem Lacrosse Showcase, a tradition that will take place every year.
The varsity and JV teams at both schools will play home-and-home contests on Tuesday, March 26. The campaign was coordinated by Sachem coaches Alex Grimm and Don Denning, Ralph’s wife, Mary Pepe, and the Sachem athletic department.
A player from each team will be honored with an MVP award and presented a plaque bearing Ralph’s name and likeness, the RP34 logo and his slogan, “No Fear.”
