Alum gets nod to college hall
Rhode Island Director of Athletics Thorr Bjorn announced five inductees for the URI Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2019, including Sachem alum Erin Silvering (cross country, track & field, ’02).

The Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year in 2001, Silvering Grey was three-time All-Conference selection in Cross Country for Rhode Island. In 2001, she received an at-large bid to compete in the NCAA Division I National Cross Country Championships qualifier, becoming just the second woman in program history to do so. Silvering Grey helped lead Rhode Island to four A-10 team titles during her career, as she was part of the 2000, 2001 and 2002 indoor championship teams, as well as the 2002 outdoor title team. She was a two-time Academic All-Conference selection in Cross Country, a three-time selection in Indoor Track & Field and a one-time selection in Outdoor Track & Field. As a freshman, she was the 1999 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Most Outstanding Rookie Performer, and she remains in the program’s Top 10 in the indoor 3000 meters, the indoor 5000 meters, the outdoor 3000 meters and the outdoor 5000 meters.
