Sachem alum giving back to community with free class
Sponsored by the Suffolk County Police Athletic League, starting in November Sachem alum Jerry Figgiani will be holding a class dedicated to giving students the tools to handle the anxieties in regards to their safety in school and out in public.
Figgiani, a 1978 graduate Sachem and inductee of the Sachem Hall of Honor, is the owner of East Coast Black Belt Academy in Middle Island.
He has been teaching this program in schools throughout Suffolk since 2003.
“Many students have said this program dramatically changed their lives by giving them confidence to attain important goals, become leaders at school and stand up for themselves when needed,” he said.
