Former Yastrzemski Award winner is back on Long Island after four seasons with Tampa Bay Rays organization
Alec Sole was the engine behind Sachem North baseball’s Suffolk County championship run in 2011. After a successful career at St. Louis University, he was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays and spent the last four years playing in the Single A, Double A and Triple A levels of their organization.
This season Sole has returned to his native Long Island and will suit up for the Ducks. He is the second player from Sachem to play for the Ducks after Mike Parisi, who also pitched for the Cubs and Cardinals in the majors.
“I will be fun to play in front of family and friends,” said Sole in a video interview with the Ducks. “It’s a great ballpark, great team, good organization, so I’m excited.”
A versatile player who played all four infield positions in minor league ball, Sole was also a pitcher in high school. Last season, playing as high as Triple A with the Durham Bulls, he had 13 RBI and 18 runs over 62 games.
