In just the third year of the program’s existence, the Pace University women’s lacrosse team has landed the first two Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-Americans, including junior Casey Gelderman, a Sachem East alum, who was named to the 2017 IWLCA Division II All-American Second Team.
Gelderman qualified for All-American consideration after being named to the 2017 IWLCA Division II All-North Region First Team. She adds this award to her 2017 Northeast-10 All-Conference First-Team and 2017 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star First-Team selections. Gelderman set a new program record with 61 goals this season, which currently has her tied for second in the NE10. She also set a new record with 65 ground balls, good for second in the league, and her record-setting mark of 66 draw controls are sixth in the conference. Gelderman is also tied for 11th in the conference with 22 caused turnovers. Gelderman earned NE10 Player of the Week and ECAC Offensive Player of the Week recognition this season, and was picked to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll on four different occasions.
