You can trace connections to Sachem lacrosse at just about any college in the tri-state area, but it’s hard to top Farmingdale State.
Aside from four players on the roster, and one recruit from the class of 2017, there is also an assistant coach with Sachem roots.
Farmingdale is home to assistant coach Brendan Chamberlain, Sachem North alums Sean Gannon and Brendan Schade, and Sachem East alums Justin Napolitano and Mike Nicosia.
Kyle Josefson from Sachem East’s Class of 2017, will begin his tenure at Farmingdale in the fall.
Napolitano, a freshman defender, was named First Team All-Skyline Conference, and one of just 11 athletes at the school to be named All-Farmingdale State, a special distinction given by the athletic department.
According to the school’s athletic communications department, Napolitano caused a team-high 48 turnovers, was second with 59 ground balls, anchored a defense that was fourth in the nation in caused turnovers per game and he led the conference and was 12th in the country for caused turnovers per game.
Nicosia is a freshman goalie, while Gannon is a sophomore attackman and Schade is a senior goalie.
