The Sachem North Honor Society has been working hard to generate volunteer efforts around the holiday season, especially with clothing and food drives.
The organization, led by advisors Cherisse Iacono and Victoria Cangelosi, has been a presence at building concerts and athletic events, collecting usable, good condition clothes of all sizes. They also collect food and health and wellness items.
“All donations are used to help Sachem community members in need,” said Iacono. “It is with great joy that our members put together clothing/food/care packages for families in need.”
If the advisors and student volunteers have any message to get out there, it’s that the service and good will is available for the community to take advantage.
“We want everyone to know that if they, or someone they know, needs help with clothes or food we have the means to help and we are excited to do so,” Iacono added.
On Saturday, January 21 they will also have a clothing donation drive if any community members would like to donate the unused condition clothing (all sizes accepted).
