Merrimac students, Christian and Tiana Zarcone and Jason Volpe, stayed after school one day to help lead a fundraiser for the Double D Ranch in Manorville, N.Y.
The students collected pumpkins and gourds to donate to the ranch for the animals to eat.
“You can see from the pictures the response from the Merrimac community was overwhelming,” said Merrimac Principal Veronica DeCicco. “The owners of the farm said that the animals have enough food until February thanks to our students. It shows small acts of kindness have a huge impact.
“I was amazed at the students’ response to the student’s announcements and flyer. Jason, Tiana, and Christian and were beaming with pride. They are true leaders who spoke with the owners of the Double D Ranch because they wanted to help the animals.”
