Students and staff at Chippewa and Sagamore helped raise more than $10,000 for autism awareness by hosting a walk-a-thon recently. The money was donated to Spectrum of Dreams to provide activities and support children with special needs in the Sachem community.
“In addition Chippewa students participated in a day of ‘Blue Hair to Show You Care’, which raised an additional $1,100,” said Chippewa Principal Patricia Aubrey. “Way to go Chippewa and Sagamore!”
During the walk-a-thon elementary students enjoyed walking the track with Sagamore buddies.
“The event not only raised awareness and support about autism, but provided an opportunity for elementary and middle school students to be paired up and walk together for a great cause,” said Sagamore principal Andrew Larson. “We were so proud of our Sagamore and Chippewa students for coming together and supporting such a worthy event.”
