The Tobacco Action Coalition of Long Island (TAC) has named Lori Hewlett, Sachem’s Chairperson for Health Education, as a 2016 Tobacco Control Champion.
Hewlett has been instrumental in leading initiatives related to Kick Butt Day activities across the district. Kick Butt Day is about teaching students to take action against tobacco.
“Ms. Hewlett’s efforts to establish Kick Butts Days activities has helped educate Sachem students about tobacco industry practices and the dangers of tobacco use,” said PJ Tedeschi, TAC Coordinator, said in a statement. “It is important that we empower our youth so they do not become the next generation of smokers.”
