Students and staff at Sagamore Middle School celebrated Pi Day once again on March 14, or 3.14.
The math teachers sold raffles to their students to have the chance to throw a whipped cream pie at their chosen teacher.
During the lunch periods, the cafeteria was full of laughter, cheering, and whipped cream as staff members took multiple pies in the face. Mrs. Johnson, Sagamore’s AP, was a great sport, running down to the cafeteria during her busy day to allow a student or two from each grade level to pie her. Mr. Murphy also showed school spirit, wearing a yellow poncho as his only defense against multiple pies!
The math department raised close to $400 to be spent on other fun activities at the end of the year. Many thanks go to Mrs. DiJorio for organizing the event, the math department for selling raffles, and Mr. Gribbons for his help in keeping the pie area safe after many were thrown.
Additional thanks go to the staff members willing to get a big whipped cream pie in the face: Ms. Alexander, Mr. Berman, Mrs. Brown, Mr. Cully, Dr. Dohrman, Mr. Muratore, Mrs. Gennosa, Mr. Torquato, Mrs. Marek, Mrs. Hochmuth, Mrs. Carrieri, Mrs. Onorato, Ms. Schibani, Mrs. Spencer, Mrs. McGovern, Mr. Murphy, Ms. Fleri, and Mr. Virga.
