Sachem East alum Kyle Larkin, who plays lacrosse at Quinnipiac, was recently named MAAC Defensive Player of the Week.
From Quinnipiac athletics:
Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Larkin (Holbrook, New York) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday, March 7, 2016.
Larkin played what easily stands as the best game of her young career in a 6-5 win over Army West Point, matching her career-high with 11 saves on 16 shots for a career-best .688 save percentage. The best player on the field throughout the 60-minute defensive grind, Larkin’s five goals allowed stands as a career-low for the sophomore as well as her second career victory.
Once the game was tied 5-5 with 17:56 remaining, Larkin denied all four of the Black Knights’ shots-on-goal in the remainder of play as her play on the defensive end allowed Quinnipiac to win a game with just six goals scored for the first time since 2012.
Larkin’s individual weekly honor marks the first time Quinnipiac has had a player take home a MAAC Defensive Player of the Week award in program history.
