After its best regular season in a decade, the Sachem North boys basketball team lost in the first round of the Suffolk County playoffs on Saturday afternoon.
Hosting its first playoff game since Sachem split into two high schools after the 2004-2005 season, the No. 7 Flaming Arrows lost to No. 10 Copiague, 51-48.
Sachem opened the game with a 15-2 lead, but eventually trailed by half.
With a spark of magic and its typical come-back mentality, Sachem bounced back from a 46-38 deficit and eventually took a lead within the final minute of the game.
However, Copiague mustered to hit some late-game shots and Sachem missed two three-point shots within the final 12 seconds and lost.
