The following is a statement from Sachem Superintendent James Nolan:
“There have been recent pictures and posts on Facebook that implied a threat involving students at Sachem North. The Suffolk County Police Department became immediately involved. The police department does not feel these posts are credible, however, they’re following up on the situation.
The threat was a result of an incident that had nothing to do with Sachem North, according to police. The safety of students and staff members is always our top priority.
Police will continue to investigate and there will be a police presence at Sachem North this week, along with additional security.
Unfortunately, social media is making a bad situation worse. Please refrain from sharing posts about this topic and allow the Suffolk County Police Department to do its job.”
